Spain's PM, Pedro Sánchez, meets with Canary Islands' regional President, Fernando Clavijo, to discuss the issue of irregular migration and care for thousands of unaccompanied minors who have arrived in the Canary Islands, which have become a major entry point for irregular migrants into the European Union. Over 5,500 unaccompanied children and teenagers are currently in the region, exceeding the capacity of 2,000 minors they can accommodate. The Spanish government has allocated €50 million to help the archipelago and are committed to working on long-term solutions, possibly requiring legislative changes to make solidarity mandatory among Spain's regions.
