The Town of Kindersley, Saskatchewan was fined $175,000 over the death of a worker who was overcome by poisonous gas while responding to a sewer blockage in August 2022. The town pleaded guilty to failing to prevent worker exposure to hazardous substances under the Occupational Health and Safety Regulations. The court imposed a $125,000 fine and a surcharge of $50,000, with the remaining four charges withdrawn.
