The Chicago Cubs have designated utility infielder David Bote for assignment and recalled rookie infielder Luis Vazquez, who has shown strong defensive skills and a hot bat in Triple-A. The team claimed right-handed pitcher Gavin Hollowell from the Arizona Diamondbacks to create a 40-man roster spot. Bote may remain with the team if he clears waivers.
