A 1-acre brush fire was contained near Torrey Pines State Beach on Friday afternoon, with no structures threatened. Fire crews, police, and park rangers evacuated the area. The San Diego Fire-Rescue Department, supported by 42 personnel from Poway and Encinitas, extinguished the fire. Weather conditions were favorable, as Fire Battalion Chief Erik Windsor noted they were lucky with the recent cooldown. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
