30-year-old Sam Weller from Christchurch's New World Ravenswood has been crowned Pact Packaging Young Butcher of the Year at the National Butchery Awards in Auckland, New Zealand. She outperformed five other finalists in a two-hour meat cutting contest, demonstrating skills in speed, organisation, health and safety, and clean bones. Weller's victory earned her a spot to compete in Paris next year against the world's top butchers.
