47-year-old William J. Wattles Jr. died on August 20 after cutting a live wire while salvaging copper and other materials from a closed industrial plant for scrap sale. He suffered fatal injuries from a fall and high-voltage electrocution. His body was initially unidentified, but facial recognition technology and tattoos confirmed his identity. The Decatur Police Department is investigating the incident.
