Vietnam's Cai Mep LNG terminal, operated by AG&P LNG and Hai Linh Company, seeks its first cargo for commissioning tests as the country aims to boost LNG import terminals and reduce coal reliance.

Vietnam's Cai Mep LNG terminal, operated by a joint venture between Singapore's AG&P LNG and Hai Linh Company, is seeking its first cargo for commissioning tests. The terminal aims to be part of the country's plans to reduce reliance on coal and build up LNG import terminals and 13 LNG-fired power plants, targeting 15% of total power generation capacity by 2030. However, analysts suggest that achieving this goal may be at risk. Currently, the terminal in southern Ba Ria Vung Tau province has the capacity to import 3 million metric tons of LNG annually.
