US nuclear-powered submarine Hawaii undergoes maintenance in Western Australia under AUKUS alliance for Indo-Pacific deterrence.

The US nuclear-powered submarine Hawaii is undergoing maintenance in Western Australia for the first time, marking a significant step in deterring aggression in the Indo-Pacific region under the AUKUS alliance. Australian, US, and UK personnel trained together for the maintenance at HMAS Stirling, which does not involve the transfer of radiological material ashore. This maintenance is one of several steps being taken by AUKUS partners to improve deterrence in the region, uphold the rules-based international order, and provide Australia with experience in operating a fleet of conventionally armed, nuclear-powered submarines.
