Sands Centre in Carlisle to reopen in 2025 after £2.5m roof replacement and renovation.
Sands Centre in Carlisle will reopen in 2025 following a £2.5m roof replacement, after reinforced autoclaved aerated concrete (RAAC) was discovered in the auditorium roof in 2019. The project, funded from within existing council capital budgets, includes removal and replacement of RAAC panels, full replacement of customer seating, and upgrades to back-of-house facilities. The leisure centre and sports hall will remain unaffected during renovation.
