New Hanover County School Board appoints Christopher Barnes as interim superintendent.
The New Hanover County School Board has appointed Christopher Barnes, the current acting superintendent, as the interim superintendent. Barnes will lead the 43 schools in the district while a nationwide search for a permanent superintendent continues. He was chosen for his leadership style, authenticity, and consistency, and aims to refocus the district on core values, improve school opening processes, and better the district by listening to staff.
