Maryland police officer Justin Lee convicted of joining Jan. 6 Capitol riot, assaulting officers with a smoke bomb.

Maryland police officer, Justin Lee, was convicted of joining the January 6, 2021 Capitol riot and hurling a smoke bomb and other objects at police officers guarding a tunnel entrance. U.S. District Judge Trevor McFadden found Lee guilty of two felonies and three misdemeanors, but acquitted him of two other misdemeanors. The Montgomery County Police Department, where Lee has been suspended without pay, plans to terminate him after his conviction. Lee is set to be sentenced on November 22.
