1M hens rehomed by British Hen Welfare Trust; milestone marked at Highgrove Gardens.
The British Hen Welfare Trust (BHWT) reached a milestone of rehoming its one millionth hen, named Henrietta, with 30 others at Highgrove Gardens, the private residence of King Charles and the Queen. The charity, founded by Jane Howorth, aims to rehome commercial laying hens and inspires the British public to view hens as pets. The hens are usually sent to slaughter after their egg-laying capacity declines.
