Australian PM Albanese pledges A$100 million ($67m) in government funding to refurbish the Great Barrier Reef Aquarium (Reef HQ) in Townsville, Qld. The project, now costing A$180m ($120.7m), aims to create a new immersive exhibit for domestic and international visitors, promote reef conservation, and inspire action to protect the natural icon. In addition, the federal government has allocated an additional A$192m ($128.7m) to improve water quality and protect the reef, addressing poor water quality as a significant threat to its health.
