Afghanistan's Taliban government enacts laws banning women's voices and faces in public, prohibiting music, solo female travel, and mixed-gender socializing.
Afghanistan's Taliban government has enacted new lifestyle laws banning women's voices and faces in public, as part of efforts to promote 'virtue' in the country. Approved by supreme leader Hibatullah Akhundzada, the vice and virtue rulebook covers aspects of everyday life, requiring women to cover their bodies in public and wear face coverings to "avoid temptation and tempting others". The law also bans music, women travelling alone, and men and women socialising together unless they are related.
