32-year-old former footballer Kiernan Hughes-Mason has been convicted of causing grievous bodily harm with intent and child cruelty after a two-year-old girl suffered life-changing brain injuries under his care. The child, who now requires 24-hour care, had 17 injuries, including those consistent with a high-speed road traffic accident. Hughes-Mason will be sentenced on September 10 at Basildon Crown Court, and has been dismissed from his managerial position at Enfield Borough FC.
