UK consumer group Which? accuses Boots, Superdrug, Sainsbury's, and Tesco of raising prices for non-loyalty cardholders.

UK consumer group Which? has accused high street retailers Boots, Superdrug, Sainsbury's, and Tesco of using their loyalty card schemes to artificially raise prices for non-loyalty shoppers. A study of over 12,000 products found that many items were priced more expensively for non-members, despite being advertised as loyalty promotion deals. The group claims that over half of shoppers believe non-member prices are higher than typical prices for products at these stores. The report encourages the Competition and Markets Authority to clarify how consumer law applies to loyalty pricing and take action if companies violate rules.
