A UCL-led study found that cold water swimming is gaining popularity among UK women, with 64% usually swimming in the sea and 89% swimming all year round. While the activity has numerous health benefits, the research highlights the need for better support to make wild swimming sites safer and more accessible. The study calls for improved safety measures and better guidance from the UK government, water companies, the Environment Agency, and others worldwide, due to the increased risk of infections from pollution in UK waters.
