Supreme Court to hear joint bail pleas of Jyoti Jagtap and Mahesh Raut in the Bhima Koregaon case.
The Supreme Court of India will hear the bail pleas of activists Jyoti Jagtap and Mahesh Raut, accused in the Bhima Koregaon case, together. Jagtap's bail plea was rejected by the Bombay High Court in October 2022, and her notice on the bail plea was issued by the Supreme Court in August 2023. The decision to hear the bail pleas together was made after the National Investigation Agency (NIA) requested the hearing with another pending bail plea of co-accused Mahesh Raut. Both cases involve the NIA's investigation into the Bhima Koregaon violence case that occurred in 2018, resulting in one fatality.
