Sri Lanka's Cabinet approved a major salary increase for public servants, effective Jan 2025, according to President's Media Division. The raise, proposed by the Expert Committee on Public Service Salary Disparities, will increase base salaries 24-50% for various roles based on qualifications, experience, and roles. The lowest-paid public worker's salary will rise to 55,000 rupees. From Jan 2025, cost of living allowance will also be increased to 25,000 rupees.
