Regina city council votes against renaming Dewdney Avenue due to historical controversy.

Regina city council voted 7-3 against renaming Dewdney Avenue, a road with connections to Edgar Dewdney's controversial history as an Indian Commissioner. The motion, introduced by councillors Andrew Stevens and Dan LeBlanc, sparked debate over the costs and implications of changing the street's name. The council is, however, proceeding with a request to raise the city's debt limit from $660m to $890m for approval by the Saskatchewan Municipal Board.
