Nebraska Supreme Court Chief Justice Mike Heavican announces retirement, effective October 31st.

Nebraska Supreme Court Chief Justice Mike Heavican, who has served for 18 years, announced his retirement effective October 31st. Heavican, appointed by Governor Dave Heineman in 2006, has been approved by voters three times to continue in the position. Governor Jim Pillen will appoint Heavican's successor following a nomination process by Nebraska's Judicial Nominating Commission.
