A light plane, a Piper PA-28, on a training flight crashed into trees near Bossley Park, Sydney, after experiencing engine failure. The pilot and passenger sustained only minor injuries. The plane took off from Bankstown Airport and crashed moments later near Mary Immaculate Catholic Primary School. The incident prompted a 100-meter fire protection zone due to the presence of up to 340 litres of fuel. The Australian Transport Safety Bureau is investigating the cause of the crash.
