India's Civil Aviation Ministry introduces simplified guidelines for seaplane operations under UDAN scheme, eliminating waterdrome license & reduced compliance.

India's Civil Aviation Ministry has announced new guidelines for seaplane operations, aiming to encourage seaplane usage under the regional air connectivity scheme UDAN. The simplified rules, approved by the DGCA, eliminate the need for a waterdrome license and reduced compliance requirements. Seaplane operations can help boost tourism and provide additional connectivity options in regions with limited airport infrastructure. The government plans to establish water aerodromes at 18 locations across India and will soon launch demonstration flights by DeHavilland.
