India denies Dumbur Dam release caused Bangladesh flooding, attributing it to heavy rainfall in catchment areas.

India denies flooding in Bangladesh was caused by Dumbur Dam release - India's Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) has denied allegations from Bangladesh that the flooding in its eastern border districts was caused by the release of water from the Dumbur dam on the Gumti River in Tripura, India. The MEA emphasized that the flooding in Bangladesh is primarily due to heavy rainfall in the catchment areas of the Gumti River, which flows through both India and Bangladesh, and that the Dumbur dam, located upstream, is not responsible for the flooding. India and Bangladesh share 54 common cross-border rivers, and both countries remain committed to addressing water resources and river water management issues through bilateral consultations and technical discussions.
