Holland Casino suffers €3.5m loss in H1 2022, as rising gambling tax and personnel costs negatively impact profit.
Holland Casino reports a loss of €3.5m in H1 2022, compared to a profit of €17.2m in the same period last year, due to a 7.3% rise in the Netherlands' gambling tax and higher personnel costs. CEO Petra de Ruiter warns that a 30.5% to 37.8% tax increase proposal could lead to significant losses and force the casino to take undesirable measures to maintain profitability, such as aggressive customer campaigns, encouraging higher spending, or reducing prize money. This contradicts the government's policy to reduce gambling addiction and financial problems caused by gambling.
