2024 GCSE results reveal increased entries in music, modern foreign languages, and art & design subjects.

2024 GCSE results show increased entries for music, modern foreign languages (Spanish, German, French), and art & design subjects, countering concerns of declining humanities and arts-based subject popularity. The rise in music entries was welcomed by Ofqual's chief regulator, Sir Ian Bauckham. Language education has seen a positive change, partly attributed to the National Consortium for Language Education's Language Hubs program. However, overall language learning numbers remain low since languages stopped being compulsory in 2004.
