2020-2022, England's local authorities spent £1bn repurchasing Right to Buy scheme council homes.

Since 2020, England's local authorities have spent £1.7bn, including £1bn in the past two years, to repurchase council housing properties sold under the Right to Buy scheme, according to RADAR's analysis of FOI requests. 8,600 homes sold under the scheme have been repurchased since 2020, with 5,900 bought back since 2020. The Right to Buy legislation allows council tenants to buy their homes at a discount.
