Chinese dissident Yuanjun Tang, who once participated in Tiananmen Square protests, has been accused by NY federal prosecutors of secretly working for China's Ministry of State Security and spying on pro-democracy activist groups. Tang, now living in the US, is said to have cooperated with the Chinese intelligence agency for his family in mainland China. Charged with acting as a foreign agent and making false statements, Tang faces allegations of providing intelligence officers with information on US-based dissidents and helping the ministry infiltrate an encrypted messaging group chat.
