36-year-old Ryan Whiteway was charged with attempted murder after a veteran Sarnia police officer, with 13 years of service, was stabbed multiple times in the head and neck during a distress call at an apartment. The officer, whose name was withheld, is expected to recover and was taken to two hospitals for treatment. Whiteway, who was found with an edged weapon, was held for a bail hearing.
