17-year-old Mardenia Carrillo Lopez, an Oakland resident, was fatally struck by a car while walking in a marked crosswalk. Another pedestrian was injured and taken to a hospital. The driver, who fled the scene, later crashed 1.5 miles away and was arrested by Alameda County sheriff's deputies. Authorities suspect alcohol may have been a factor in the incident, and the driver's name has not been released. The second victim is in stable condition at the hospital, and police are seeking information from the public.
