1938-1963 WWII training bomb discovered during construction in Aurora, Colorado.
A WWII training bomb, a Mark 23 Mod 1, was discovered during construction in Aurora, Colorado near the former Lowry Bombing and Gunnery Range. The Arapahoe County bomb squad x-rayed the inert device and identified it before transferring it to the Buckley Space Force Base. The area had previously been used for military training since 1938, including high-explosive bombing exercises during WWII, until 1963.
