West Bengal appoints retired police and defense personnel as security supervisors in state-run medical colleges and hospitals.
West Bengal's government has appointed retired police and defense personnel as security supervisors in all state-run medical colleges and hospitals. This move follows the Supreme Court's order to form a national task force for the security of medical professionals across India, after a junior doctor was raped and murdered in Kolkata's R.G. Kar Medical College & Hospital. The West Bengal government aims to enhance safety measures for medical professionals by covering the emoluments of eligible retired candidates, who have until August 24 to apply. The state health department will cover their emoluments.
