UK's MoD plans a £20m silent hangar at Boscombe Down to test military equipment resisting GPS jamming, open in 2026.
The UKs Ministry of Defence (MoD) plans to build a new "silent hangar" site, set to open in 2026, to protect military equipment against foreign GPS jamming. The facility, one of Europes largest, will test equipment such as drones, helicopters, armoured vehicles, and fighter jets to ensure they can operate in harsh electromagnetic environments and resist attempts to jam GPS devices. Located at the MoD Boscombe Down site in Wiltshire, Southwest England, the £20m ($26m) project has been awarded to defence technology firm QinetiQ.
