Malaysia orders return of infested cabbages from Singapore worth RM6,800, with potential penalties under the Maqis Act 2011.

A lorry carrying infested long cabbages from Singapore was ordered to return on August 19 by Malaysia's Quarantine and Inspection Services (Maqis). The vegetables, found to contain live pests called phyllotreta, were worth approximately RM6,800. Importing contaminated agricultural products can result in penalties of up to RM100,000 or six years in jail under the Maqis Act 2011.
