A mail theft victim in Santa Barbara County used an Apple AirTag to track and catch two suspects, Virginia Franchessca Lara and Donald Ashton Terry. The woman, who had been a victim of multiple mail thefts, placed the tracking device in a package and sent it to herself. Upon its theft, deputies tracked the device to the suspects, who were found with the stolen AirTag and items from over a dozen other victims. The suspects were arrested and charged with crimes ranging from burglary to identity theft.
