Avendus Capital forecasts India's data centre capacity to increase by 500MW by 2027, driven by AI demand and a 26% CAGR.

Avendus Capital predicts India's data centre market will add 500MW of capacity within the next four years, driven by surging demand for artificial intelligence use cases. India has already doubled its overall capacity to 1,011MW in 2023 from 540MW in 2019, making it one of the fastest-growing markets globally. The industry is expected to grow at a 26% CAGR over the next three years, attracting substantial attention from investors. Edge data centres, smaller facilities located close to the populations they serve, will experience substantial demand due to rising data generation and consumption in tier 2 and tier 3 cities.
