Scotland's off-peak train fare trial, funded by the Scottish Government, ends on September 27th due to insufficient shift from cars to trains.

Scotland's off-peak train fare trial, aimed at making transport more affordable and reducing emissions, is ending on September 27th. The Scottish Government-funded trial did not significantly shift passengers from cars to trains and will be discontinued, with regular peak train fares returning. In response, ScotRail will offer a 20% discount on season tickets and increase the number of journeys allowed on Flexipass from 10 to 12. The one-year pilot cost the government around £40 million annually.
