Ogun State's INEC REC, Olaniyi Ijalaye, died after slumping in Abuja following a meeting on upcoming elections.

Ogun State's INEC Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC), Barrister Olaniyi Ijalaye, has died after slumping in his Abuja hotel room following a meeting with other RECs at INEC's headquarters. The meeting, chaired by INEC Chairman Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, focused on the upcoming off-cycle governorship elections in Edo and Ondo States and seven vacant seats in the National and State Assemblies. The cause of Ijalaye's death has not been officially disclosed. Governor Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State expressed his condolences to the family of the late REC and remembered him as an honest, committed, and cerebral public servant.
