NIST releases first 3 quantum-resistant algorithms for data protection against quantum attacks.
NIST has released the first three finalized quantum-resistant algorithms, designed to protect data against quantum attacks, which pose a threat to traditional encryption methods. Quantum-resistant cryptography, or post-quantum cryptography, has advanced with the aim of developing algorithms that can protect data against quantum attacks, expected to become common with the predicted widespread availability of quantum computing in five to six years. NIST urges companies to transition to the new quantum-resistant system as soon as possible to prevent potential data breaches.
