Multiple crashes on Massachusetts Turnpike, I-90 in Charlton caused temporary closures in both directions on Monday. The cause of the incidents and the number of vehicles involved are unknown. The westbound side reopened around 3:40 p.m., but the eastbound traffic remained closed and was diverted at exit 78. Interstate 84 was also closed at I-90 and detoured onto Route 20. The incidents led to backups on Route 20, as both sides of the highway experienced significant traffic disruption.
