Massachusetts Governor Maura Healey is under pressure to save two remaining Steward Health Care hospitals, Carney in Dorchester and Nashoba Valley in Ayer, from closure at the end of August. State legislators and members of Congress are urging aggressive measures to rescue the hospitals, but no qualified operators have come forward. Advocates suggest the state could use eminent domain, similar to its move to take over St. Elizabeth's Medical Center, but Healey has said there's little the state can do without willing operators.
