Maryland Rep. Jamie Raskin, who gained national prominence as the lead manager in Trump's second impeachment trial, warned at the Democratic National Convention (DNC) that former President Trump poses a threat to democracy and is aided by "Banana Republicans." Raskin, a member of the House's January 6th select committee, described the January 6, 2021, assault on the U.S. Capitol as the "worst high crime and misdemeanor ever committed by a president, inciting insurrection against our own Constitution."
