Maharashtra Deputy CM ordered review of Sakhi committees, added Vishakha Committees, and suspended three police officials after alleged sexual assault incident at a school.

Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis ordered a review of Sakhi Savitri committees and complaint boxes in schools across the state, following protests over an alleged sexual assault incident at a school in Badlapur, Thane. In response to the case, the education department issued instructions including background checks, staff rotation, preferring female staff, and sexual harassment awareness campaigns. The School Education Minister also announced the introduction of Vishakha Committees, comprising senior students, to ensure younger children feel comfortable sharing issues. The state government has suspended three police officials for alleged dereliction of duty in investigating the incident.
