"Joker: Folie à Deux," the sequel to "Joker," stars Joaquin Phoenix and Lady Gaga in a musical film set two years after the first movie. Arthur Fleck (Phoenix) faces the death penalty in a psych ward after his murder of talk show host Murray Franklin. He meets fellow patient Harleen "Lee" Quinzel (Gaga), who is obsessed with his alter ego, Joker. They stop taking their medication and enter a fantasy world inspired by old-fashioned musicals, singing classic songs such as "Get Happy," "For Once in My Life," and "That's Life." Director Todd Phillips described the film as not strictly a musical, with the musical performances taking place within the characters' imagination and most of the music serving as dialogue.
