Japan diversifies seafood exports to new markets after 43.8% drop due to Chinese import ban.

Japan aims to diversify seafood exports to new markets, including the US, Canada, Thailand, and Vietnam, following a year-long Chinese import ban due to radiation concerns. The ban led to a 43.8% drop in exports to China, but Japan's government-backed trade body, JETRO, allocated a $34.8m budget to promote Japanese seafood in over 70 cities worldwide, targeting markets like Eastern Europe and the Middle East. JETRO has also explored alternative scallop processing sites in Vietnam and Mexico.
