Iraq and BP agreed to a profit-sharing model for the development of Kirkuk oil and gas fields, as Iraq aims to attract Western oil companies, shift from low-margin contracts, and speed up production growth. BP signed a preliminary deal to develop four fields in Kirkuk, expected to hold 9 billion barrels of recoverable oil, with a confidentiality and final agreement due by the end of the year.
