Iranian court begins trial of US administration and officials over 1953 coup ousting Iranian PM Mosaddegh.

An Iranian court has begun the trial of the US administration and its officials over the 1953 coup that ousted the democratically-elected Iranian Prime Minister Mohammad Mosaddegh. The trial, involving 402,000 Iranian plaintiffs, targets six American individuals and entities, accusing them of their roles in the coup that installed pro-Western monarch Mohammad Reza Pahlavi until the 1979 Islamic Revolution. In 2013, the US formally admitted its role in the coup through declassified intelligence documents.
