India's Supreme Court will hear the Kolkata rape-murder case on August 20. The case involves the August 9 rape and murder of a postgraduate trainee doctor at R G Kar Medical College and Hospital. A three-judge bench, headed by Chief Justice D Y Chandrachud, will examine the case, along with acts of vandalism that occurred at the hospital on August 14. Over 65 individuals, including doctors and senior BJP leader Locket Chatterjee, have been issued notices in relation to the unlawful disclosure of the victim's identity and the spread of misinformation on social media. The case comes amid ongoing protests by junior doctors in several states, who have been off duty demanding justice for the victim and increased security.
