Initially, she thought her days of making records were over, but collaborations in Nashville with Little Big Town's Karen Fairchild, recording artist Ashley Monroe, and producer-engineer Gena Johnson led to the creation of her new album. The record, featuring songs written by all three collaborators, is described as "completely different" from her previous work, with all tracks played by Lynne and the fellow musicians. Monument Records' interest was sparked by Karen Fairchild, leading to the completion of the album.
