29-year-old paramedic launches Brantford Community Paramedic Wish Program to grant small wishes to palliative care patients.
29-year-old paramedic Andrew Wood launched the Brantford Community Paramedic Wish Program, designed to grant small wishes to palliative care patients. Inspired by conversations with patients, the initiative began after discussions with palliative care staff at Brantford General Hospital and Stedman Hospice to create policies and procedures. Patients must be registered with a palliative program and be transferable for the wishes to be granted. The program aims to cater to small desires such as a trip to the beach or watching a live hockey game, with virtual reality experiences offered when necessary.
